The atmosphere inside is a combination of cyberpunk and tokyo city ramen bar. The service is super nice, chatty in a good way and attentive. Cocktails were lovely and the vegetarian rolls such a nice change. And get that: They have VEGAN Takoyaki!

What an interesting concept. It looks like an old inn but the owner makes it feel like it is Italian? But then when we asked for a wine recommendation paired to our food he was a little stumped and we just got what felt like "the usual". It was a good and fitting wine, don't get me wrong, I just thought it was a funny interaction that fits the confusing ambience really well 😄

So I've been to this restaurant three times now and three stars is all I can spare.
First of all I got to recommend you try this restaurant for their hot stone bowl at least once - if you are lucky it is an amazing dish with crispy roasted rice and caramelized veggies or meat. If you are unlucky it's more of a soggy mess, still tasty but kinda like soup.
So the experience is somewhat inconsistent but the reason for the rating is the horrible service. It was never great but one time we waited 30 minutes before the first waitress even talked to us. Drinks came 30 minutes later so we were sitting there for about an hour on an empty table. Food took about 15 minutes longer. No sorry no nothing. We were, hopefully understandably, a little irritated, but never blamed anyone and would've been open to grab another drink but they just never cared to ask us 😅
So yeah, super cool dish that they serve but sadly absolutely lacking in the service Department.
Matheo and Erika serve amazing self roasted specialty coffee, homemade cakes and sweets (sometimes vegan or gluten-free) at their lovely café just at the outskirts of Vodnjan.

Not only home cooled Mexican style food from a family run business but one of the nicest services by the man himself, offering decent gin cocktails and very good tequila!

They treat you like family, the food is outstanding with fish caught fresh from the sea for a fair price.
